INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS (IPR) CELL

With the advent of the WTO agreement on intellectual property rights over the last 10-15 years, intellectual property rights have become a major topic of debate. Patents, copyrights, trademarks, design registration, plant variety protection, trade secrets, and geographical indications are all examples of intellectual property rights. In our nation, both business and academic institutions contribute to research and innovation.

AJK College of Arts and Science builds a favourable atmosphere where we can impart awareness of trademarks, copyrights, geographical indications, and other IPRs to our young generation because they can be equipped to create inventions and defend their intellectual property rights, including their invention and imagination, in today's age where intellectual property rights are internationally enforceable.

The IPR Cell offers a basic understanding of geographical indications, intellectual property rights, patent terms, and the process for filing patents at both the national and international levels. The IPR Cell also guides researchers on trademarks, copyrights, and brand names, among other things. The IPR Cell also offers a forum for local innovators such as faculty members, teachers, and academic scholars, to exchange and debate the newest developments and applications with realistic visibility.

OBJECTIVES

  • To provide college researchers with IPR security knowledge, training, and facilities.
  • To assist researchers in obtaining and maintaining patents by guiding and advising them on how to approach a patent knowledge centre (PIC).
  • To encourage academic freedom and protect inventors' rights in the development and commercialization of intellectual property by providing legal assistance where possible.
  • To foster an atmosphere conducive to the acquisition of new information through creativity, to foster a mentality of prudent IP management activities, and to cultivate an IPR culture that is consistent with the institute's educational task.
